With just two weeks to go until Talent in Logistics 2019, the line-up of expert speakers and full agenda have been confirmed.
The third annual Talent in Logistics Conference, which takes place on the 27th June at Marshall Arena, Milton Keynes, includes seminars, discussions and an exhibition focused on giving attendees new skills and knowledge to Attract, Develop and Engage the best logistics talent.
In the Attract theatre, delegates can see topical session ‘BREXIT: What Do We Do Now? Leadership Lessons in Supply Chain 4.0’, presented by Richard Wilding OBE of Cranfield University which looks at leadership for next generation supply chains. Other highlights include ‘Apprenticeships: How Do We Make Them Work?’ and a panel discussion with Think Logistics that looks at ‘Solving the Skills Gap Through Youth Employment’.
Two of the sessions will help visitors discover the best strategies to implement into current recruitment models, including a presentation from Jennifer Swain of Clipper Logistics about ‘Embracing a Diverse and Inclusive Culture’ and a seminar with Matt Burney from recruitment experts Indeed that questions ‘Challenging First Impressions?’.
Speakers in the Develop theatre include Olympian Steve Backley OBE, whose keynote presentation will look at the ‘5 Key Principles of Performance’ and the connection between mental preparation and success.
Liz Veasey from Yusen Logistics will be sharing some straightforward top tips on how to set up and run a practical, business focussed L&D function during the ‘Workforce Development – A Success Story’ session and Kate Cooper of the Institute of Leadership and Management will share some of the findings of the Institute’s recent research. Kate will reveal what makes us want to stay – or leave – our jobs and what new leaders and managers can do to keep the staff they need in the ‘Being an Authentic Leader Every Day’ seminar.
Jo Wright’s ‘How to Create a Coaching Culture’ session will explain how to strategically harness the power of coaching by walking through the Coaching Culture Framework For Success. Per Nilsson of MA System focuses on how to get engaged students and long-lasting results at a lower cost using e-learning, in ‘E-learning in Training – How to Make it Efficient and Powerful’.
Meanwhile, the Engage theatre will provide helpful seminars such as ‘Employee Engagement – A Success Story’, by Colin Donnelly of Sainsbury’s Argos who will explain how the company drives engagement and what motivates over 2,000 people per day to get up and work in one of their distribution centres.
Whether or not a company has a mental health module in place, Dr Dorian Dugmore’s ‘Wellness and Wellbeing – Keeping Your Organisation Fit for the Future’ session will empower the audience to implement a plan to keep employees fully engaged and fit for the future.
In ‘John Lewis: Our Commitment To Become Britain’s Healthiest Workplace’, Martin Ready from John Lewis shares a personal story about how he overcame his frustrations with the help of his line manager Sarah Rhodes, counselling sessions and techniques to help himself deal with stress in the workplace and in his personal life.
Gwen Carter-Powell from Investors in People will discuss ‘Defining Your Culture in Order to Retain Talent’ while employment law experts Maria Gallucci and Mike Hayward of Woodfines Solicitors will offer the legal view on ‘Keeping Your Employees in Work’. They will give practical tips on how to keep employees in work through having effective and supportive employee management processes in place and, if the ‘wheels fall off’, how a business can protect itself.
