Neil Griffiths

Neil joined Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service in 2000 and in that time has worked across all departments including; Area Command, Training and Development and Prevention and Protection. Currently, Neil is the Group Commander for Operations and the local project lead for ESMCP, the national Airwave Radio replacement programme. The primary focus for the Operations department is policy, procedure and risk identification and mitigation. The team ensures that the safe person concept applies to all operational activity Service firefighters are involved with. Neil is an experienced operational Level 3 Incident Commander and also performs the roles of Hazardous Materials Advisor and National Interagency Liaison Officer. Neil is married with two children and is an avid football fan who enjoys walking, cycling and running marathons in his spare time.

The session covers an operational incident attended by Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service which involved a forklift truck driver trapped under tonnes of collapsed racking. The session describes the hazards faced by the rescuers and the multi-agency and national asset resources required to carry out the rescue.
