Our training offer includes three main areas: commercial training, training for individuals and apprenticeships. Our commercial training can be carried out at the company’s site, saving them time and expense as well as providing bespoke training for their existing staff, in the locations that they will be operating.

Training for individuals can be as simple as a one-off reach or counterbalance course, or as an extensive as a funded two week Warehousing & Storage qualification, followed by an FLT license and programme of employment skills and ongoing support.

Our individual training is available for anyone who wants to further their career in warehousing and storage and candidates can choose their course, sign up and pay their fees to gain a respected qualification. We are proud to also provide funded individual training to the long term unemployed, often homeless. When candidates with problems are referred to us, we make it our top priority to turn their lives around and get them back into the workforce. We track through the entire journey, helping to complete paperwork, practicing interviews, planning transport routes to meet with prospective employers and then providing follow up support once the candidate is successful.

Our apprenticeships are a recent success story – approved to provide levy and non-levy apprenticeships, we work with some of the country’s biggest employers to provide high-quality apprentices.

The ethos of the company comes from the founders Laura Fenton and Dilwyn Owen. With backgrounds in recruitment and the military respectively, both understood the challenges facing the long term unemployed to return to the workforce. In establishing FLT Training almost 15 years ago the priority was always going to be helping individuals who have had a difficult time.

The future for FLT Training looks very bright. With a brand new website, social media and marketing campaigns, we are focussing on reaching even more people with our training offer. In 2018 we will build on our apprenticeship offer, both levy and non levy, and are actively looking at potential new sites for expansion into other regions. We want to continue to raise the standard of FLT training across the UK and make sure that we are servicing the wider community in a positive and beneficial way.
