About Jeff Stelling

Presenter, Gillette Soccer Saturday/Live football
Jeff Stelling is best known for presenting Gillette Soccer Saturday, the landmark football show that stretches across six hours of the game’s busiest day with an unbeatable mix of features, reports, informed studio opinion, lively banter and the fastest results service anywhere. The Word magazine recently described the show as “one of television’s most bizarre success stories” while Bill Borrows, writing in the Independent in 2004, singled out of Jeff’s “affability and insouciant, roguish charm as a key ingredient of the show’s success.”

But Jeff has also presented a range of live events on Sky Sports, dating back to the channel’s birth in 1992 and fronted his first major final last season when Spurs beat Chelsea to win the Carling Cup at Wembley. He’s also been a familiar face for viewers watching all levels of football across the Sky Sports channels including the UEFA Champions League.

Jeff’s media career began as a news reporter at his local paper, the Hartlepool Mail. A move to Radio Tees led to the role of reporter on local club Middlesbrough and the beginning of a radio career that took Jeff to two Olympic games in Los Angeles (1984) and Seoul (1988).

Before joining Sky Sports, Jeff had spells at TV AM as a member of the sports team and BSB in 1990 where he presented ‘Sports Desk’. After working as a freelancer, Jeff’s long association with Sky Sports began.

Jeff is married with three young children and lives in Hampshire.
