On June 22nd, hundreds of learning and development professionals from the warehousing, transport and logistics sectors will gather in Telford, West Midlands, for the Talent in Logistics Awards and Conference 2017.
The free-to-attend Talent in Logistics Conference, provides a unique opportunity for Learning and Development Managers, Instructors, H&S Managers, and HR and Training Managers to come together to discuss ways to overcome important issues such as the acute skills shortage.
Taking place at the Telford headquarters of event supporter RTITB, a comprehensive range of resources will help organisations to better procure and deliver the training that is right for their people and their business objectives.
Speakers are confirmed from CIPD, Cranfield University, Mentor FLT Training, Health and Safety Executive, Department of Workplace Pensions, and charities MIND, Brake and Transaid, to name a few. Sessions will address topics such as ‘Making strategic L&D work in practice’, ‘How distracted are your drivers?’, and ‘LGV Drivers: How Can We Support and Improve their Mental Health?’.
There is also a session in response to the increased terror threat level, a briefing by the National Counter Terrorism Policing Headquarters to help prevent vehicles being used as weapons.
Alongside the seminar sessions, visitors will have chance to drop in to the Information Zone. Exhibitors will be on hand to provide information about the latest products, services and technology to help address the unique challenges around talent, training and development within the logistics sector. Competition Grand Finals – LIVE!
Talent in Logistics will also host the exciting live Grand Finals of the ‘International Forklift Operator of the Year’ and ‘Lift Truck Instructor of the Year 2017’ competitions.
The ‘International Forklift Operator of the Year’, which is sponsored by UniCarriers and partnered with McCue Corporation, recognises drivers who display outstanding skills and safety in counterbalance lift truck operation. Visitors can watch 12 top forklift operators compete in a number of live challenges including practical operating tests supported by safety company Pyroban, AvantiGas, B&B Attachments and charity Transaid.
The event will also include all the action of the ‘Lift Truck Instructor of the Year 2017’ contest sponsored by Doosan Industrial UK Ltd. Celebrating excellence in lift truck training and instruction, some of the top instructors from across the UK and Ireland will take part in a series of challenges that demonstrate their training skills.
The winners of each competition will be announced at the Talent in Logistics Awards which will take place that evening.
Taking place at the Telford International Centre, the Talent in Logistics Awards 2017 will celebrate the unique skills and achievements of people and teams across the transport and logistics training and development sector, recognising and rewarding those who are striving to improve safety and efficiency.
Following a champagne reception, the inaugural Talent in Logistics Awards ceremony will be hosted by special guest, stand-up comedian, and star of BBC One sitcom ‘Not Going Out’, Tim Vine. With a deluxe three course dinner and live band, the evening will provide the valuable opportunity to socialise and network with learning and development professionals from within the industry.
Those shortlisted for the 15 Talent in Logistics Awards categories, include managers, instructors, trainers and apprentices from training providers, in-house training departments, and organisations, both large and small, across the supply chain. Individuals and teams from several well-known companies, including Tesco, Royal Mail, XPO Logistics and John Lewis Distribution, are among the finalists.
